Mayoral Red Kettle Challenge

Mayor Robert Cluck is gearing up for this year's Mayoral Red Kettle Challenge, an event that takes place at the Walmart across from AT&T Stadium on Saturday, December 13th.

The Mayoral Red Kettle Challenge started in 2009 with the mayors from Arlington, Mansfield, Dalworthington Gardens, Pantego, and Kennedale facing off to see who could raise the most money for The Salvation Army.

In 2011, Mayor Cluck took home the trophy, raising just over $11,000.

In 2012, Mansfield Mayor David Cook raised $12,000, moving the trophy to Mansfield. Last year, Mayor Cook raised over $22,000, keeping the trophy in Mansfield.

This year, in addition to overall totals, The Salvation Army will also recognize the mayor that raises the most money per capita.

Last year, the Mayoral Red Kettle Challenge raised over $37,800. The Salvation Army's goal for this year's challenge is $40,000 or more.

The Red Kettle Program funds programs throughout the year for The Salvation Army.

Mayor Cluck and city council members will volunteer as bell ringers once again this year and will be there to collect donations from the community.

"This is a special time of year, but one where many people are struggling. It's important to help those in need anytime we can and I think that's why this challenge means so much to me and the City of Arlington,"Cluck said.
