The City of Arlington is hosting a workshop to help property managers learn how to conserve water.

What: "Water-Efficient Property Management"

When: Thursday, May 15, 3-5 p.m.

Where: Bob Duncan Center, 2800 S. Center St.

Cost: FREE

Homeowners are learning how to conserve a precious Texas resource- water- in many ways, sharing cost-saving information with family members and friends. But what happens on a larger scale when property managers need to monitor and control water use and costs?

This two-hour workshop will answer questions and provide ideas about that subject.

This workshop is being presented by the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center in Dallas.

Patrick Dickinson, program coordinator for Texas A&M AgriLife in Dallas, is the featured speaker. He earned his bachelor's degree in horticulture from Tarleton State University and is an ISA-certified arborist who has extensive experience in the Texas horticulture industry.

Dickinson also is part of the center's Urban Water Program, which focuses on water conservation and storm water issues by delivering professional training, public education programs and demonstrations. He addresses professionals and members of the general public so that he can offer them the most sustainable information about landscape water use, from design and plant selection to water-conserving landscape management practices.

The workshop will provide property managers with information about techniques they can implement for indoor water conservation, drip irrigation, new water conservation technologies, cycle and soak, lawn care during drought or water restrictions, proper plant selections, foundation watering, tree watering, and irrigation scheduling.

This program is designed for apartment managers, large-facility managers, commercial property managers, landscaping companies and others whose responsibilities include water use and conservation, which also helps control costs.
