Melear Drive Road Closure

Due to the construction of the Arbrook-Melear Drainage Project, Melear Drive from Point Trail to Treetop Trail will be closed Tuesday, May 27 through Tuesday, August 29. Residents living near the Arbrook-Melear drainage project will need to reroute their commutes.

During this project, crews will widen the culvert openings at Arbrook Boulevard and Melear Drive, and will add box culvert where the creek goes under Glen Creek Court and Glenbrook Drive. Crews also are installing gabions in the creek to contain 100-year frequency storm flows within the creeks. Some water and sanitary sewer upgrades are being performed as well.

This project will alleviate flooding on Arbrook Boulevard and Melear Drive. This work is expected to be completed within the 60 day road closure window, weather permitting. Once they are done, crews will rebuild the road.

Project engineer Daniel Burnham said the $3.6 million project is part of larger citywide effort to improve drainage in different neighborhoods.
