Arlington ISD and Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital Partner to Expand Clinical Education Courses
High school students interested in the health professions will be able to participate in expanded clinical rotations, classroom labs and instruction through a collaboration between the Arlington ISD and Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital.
The partnership would provide hospital space for students enrolled in clinical rotations classes at Bowie and Lamar high schools to meet each week. Approximately 45 students would participate in these courses each week, completing hospital rotations. Students would also receive instruction and conduct classroom labs in the hospital space.
"Our Achieve Today. Excel Tomorrow. strategic plan includes a goal to prepare graduates to excel in higher education or the career of their choice, and this collaboration will allow us to provide additional opportunities for students interested in the health professions," Superintendent Dr. Marcelo Cavazos said. "It is imperative that we continue to expand opportunities for students to learn in the context where they may someday work."
"By collaborating with the AISD career and technical education department, our efforts will educate and enhance our future workforce to prepare students for a career in the health care arena," said Kirk King, Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital president. "We look forward to expanding our strong working relationship with the Arlington ISD. Providing students with an opportunity to earn course credit in a structured, hands-on environment is essential to their success."
