Mayor Cluck and AISD Superintendent to Attend National Education Event

Arlington mayor Robert Cluck and Arlington Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Marcelo Cavazos will attend the "Mayors in Education Convening" this Thursday and Friday in Washington, D.C.

The event - co-hosted by the U.S Conference of Mayors and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation - will include topics about education initiatives, school finance, and driving economic development through education reform.

"This is an opportunity for us to convene with other education experts," said Mayor Cluck. "Here in Arlington, education is a priority. Our goal is to design and implement innovative strategies to boost college and career readiness. Dr. Cavazos, AISD and our education partners are doing an excellent job investing in our future."

Highlights of the convening will include:
*How to drive economic development through education reform
*A conversation with Bill Gates
*How mayors can do more: Creative solutions to school finance
*Advancing education and workforce development goals through public-private partnerships
*How to pioneer education initiatives through innovation
