UT Arlington to Offer its First EdX Course This Fall

The University of Texas at Arlington will offer its first edX online course in Fall 2014, making it the second UT System institution to team with the provider of free Massive Open Online Courses or MOOCs.

The new, nine-week course - called "Data, Analytics and Learning" - will begin Oct. 20. Registration is available here: https://www.edx.org/school/utarlingtonx.

"Data analytics and how they can be used to improve teaching and learning are one of the most active areas in educational research," said Pete Smith, vice provost for digital teaching and learning. "UT Arlington is taking a leadership role in learning analytics with the opening of its new Learning Innovation and Networked Knowledge or LINK lab. We are proud to kick off campus participation in edX with this course."

Smith said the UT Arlington edX MOOC will allow learners around the world to engage with LINK lab executive director George Siemens, a leader in the online education community and originator of the MOOC model.
