The first game of the 2014 Final Four tips in 73 days

Are you ready for some championship basketball?

The North Texas Local Organizing Committee and members of the NCAA Division I men's Committee began the final countdown to the 2014 Men's Final Four with a "Tip-off" news conference Wednesday at AT&T Stadium.

Arlington is only 73 days from hosting college basketball's premier event, with semifinal games tipping off Saturday, April 5 and the championship game set for Monday, April 7. While it will be the second time in the NCAA's history that North Texas will host the Final Four, it will be a first for Arlington.

Featured speakers for the event included host Brad Sham, Arlington Mayor Robert Cluck, Charlotte Jones Anderson, Chair of the Local Organizing Committee; Dan Gavitt, the Vice President of NCAA Men's Basketball Championships; and Ron Wellman, Chairman of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee.

There are several exciting fan and community happening throughout North Texas during the week of the Final Four, so if you don't have ticket to see the on-court action, you can still experience several unique opportunities.

Here in Arlington, the Elzie Odom Center, 1601 NE Green Oaks Blvd., will host one of three NCAA Youth Clinics across North Texas on Saturday, April 5. Kids (grades 3-6) will receive sport instruction from NCAA coaches and student-athletes. The clinics are free, but pre-registration is required at NCAA.com/Final Four.

Enjoy other fun activities, including Bracket Town (April 4-7), NCAA March Madness Music Festival (April 4-6), Final Four Friday (April 4), NCAA Youth Clinics (April 5) and the NCAA Final Four Dribble (April 6).

The North Texas Local Organizing Committee is still looking for volunteers to staff the various events for the Final Four. "Every host city owes its success to its volunteers," said Charlotte Jones Anderson.
