Recent construction for the Rush Creek Mitigation project will cause electrical disruptions to existing trail lights and some street lights according to project contractors. The parks planning division has notified residents through sign placements near the construction area.
"We expect the lights to be out for several months and the new playground will not be ready for use for several months as well," Parks Planning Manager Kurt Beilharz said. "We don’t have exact dates for when the construction will be completed." Residents are encouraged to contact Kurt Beliharz directly with any specific questions or concerns.
The Rush Creek Mitigation Park improvement contract was bid out on September 24, 2013. The 2,000,000 project will include:
Removal of sections of Creekside Drive and Valleycrest Drive
Re-grading and clean-up of the lots that were former home-sites
Renovations and replacement in some areas of existing water and sanitary sewer lines
Replacement of the existing asphalt hike and bike trail in Clarence Foster Park with a new 8′ wide concrete H &B trail
Full replacement of the old, existing playground in Clarence Foster Park
New exercise equipment installed at 4 locations along the new trail (8 individual pieces in total)
A new, lighted parking lot on the south side of Clarence Foster Park
Updates to the trail lighting system
New wildflower areas seeded in Kelly Park along the existing trail
