The City of Arlington and UT Arlington Department of Communication are excited to announce a new partnership to better showcase the university's news to Arlington residents.

Students in the Broadcasting sequence at the university will tape a weekly news update that will include information about events, projects, announcements and other relevant material. That update, which will use students as the reporters and anchors, will then air on the City's cable channel.

"This project will allow Arlington residents to see the great things happening on the UT Arlington campus," said Jay Warren, Marketing Communications Manager for the City of Arlington. "UT Arlington is a vital part of our community, situated in the heart of Arlington and there are a lot of great things happening on campus. This is a way to communicate that news to the larger community."

Additionally, the project will help the students in their education.

"I think it is an important contribution in strengthening the connection between the university and the city," Andrew Clark, Associate Professor and Broadcast Sequence Coordinator in the Department of Communication.

He added: "Our students are very excited to be a part of UTA Spotlight. It will let visitors to the City of Arlington's web site and cable channel to see some of the work of our students, and see some of the great things that are happening at the university.

The segments will run every week during the semester on Arlington's cable channel, Time Warner Channel 16 and AT&T U-Verse channel 99.
