PicOfWeek

Congratulations to Wynn Winberg for this enchanting I Love Arlington Pic of the Week!

With the arrival of the Texas and Pacific Railroad in 1876, the first of many trains came through Arlington. Numerous towns sprang up along the tracks, but not all of them survived and flourished as Arlington did. In the early 1900s, Arlington had a thriving cotton and grain market. Today, there's a different kind of haul on these tracks, from mile-long General Motors parts to speeding Amtrak passenger trains cutting across the country during the evening sunset. Those tracks connect us to our past, and like us, carry on.
