The Junior League of Arlington (JLA) is pulling out the stops to make sure some high school girls are able to make the high school prom this year.

JLA created the Glass Slipper Boutique several years ago to help girls shop for the proper attire - dresses, accessories and shoes - to wear for the prom. Girls are selected through their high school counselors.

Each year, participating girls can shop among almost 1,000 dresses in all sizes and styles on specific days where the league volunteers will assist them with their selections for the big day. This program relies on donations from JLA members and the community.

Simply bring your formal and cocktail gown, bridesmaid dress and any accessories you aren't using to the dress drive at Blue Mesa Grill in Lincoln Square on Feb. 6 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Kayla Sims is in charge of this event and "feels privileged to work with these girls to build their self-esteem by helping them find the perfect dress to wear to prom." She is also excited to be kicking off this year at the Blue Mesa Grill. League members will be there collecting dresses, jewelry, shoes and other accessories to help local young women feel like princesses on their prom night.
