Vandergriff Park Construction

Vandergiff Park is once again under construction; adding to a list of recent projects to renovate this beloved City park.

In spring 2014, construction was completed at Vandergriff Skatepark which was unveiled during a highly-anticipated grand opening ceremony. In addition, a new terrace at the Bob Duncan Center was constructed in 2013 along with a new road and improved parking the previous year.

The newest project, which is currently underway, includes the addition of:

  • Two new ball fields
  • Expanded playground
  • Loop trail around the perimeter of the park.

"Trails are consistently our number one requested park amenity. This trail will connect to the Marrow Bone Spring trail that was built a few years ago," Park Planning Manager DeOnna Garner said.

In addition to the park improvements, the City will be rebuilding Center Street that passes in front of Vandergriff Park this summer. A new bridge is scheduled to be constructed later this year that will eventually provide trail access across I-20 into South Arlington.
