Donnie's Hot Dog Shop and Philly Steak Supper Club will cut the ribbon Thursday at their new location in North Arlington. Donnie's is a family owned and operated eatery offering American food with an east coast flair.

Philly Cheese Steak, Bratwurst, Corn Beef, Gyros, Pastrami and Polish are not typical Southern fried menu options. They reflect the background of the owners Donald and Veronica Dodson.

Veronica hails from Camden, NJ and has family in Philadelphia, Pa. What sets her restaurant apart is the "live music and the home cooking," she said. "Everything is cooked with God first and love."

After six years, Donnie's moved from a 1,500 square foot place on Matlock and Turner Warnell to a 4,000 square foot location at 900 East Copeland Road. That extra space is used for dancing and live entertainment.

Tuesdays are spoken word night and Wednesdays feature karaoke, both from 6-8 p.m. Live music plays each Friday and Saturday from 9-11 p.m. It's a diverse combination of rock, rhythm & blues, jazz and oldies. Gospel music plays all day on Sundays. Donnie's is always free to the public.

The new location is just minutes away from downtown Arlington, AT&T Stadium, Six Flags, Hurricane Harbor and Globe Life Park.

Their hours are as follows: Tuesday thru Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to midnight and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.Typically they are closed on Mondays, but if there is a major sporting event they will open.
