Mother & Son Overnight at the Rec

Calling all moms and their sons! Join us for a fun-filled sleepover at Cliff Nelson Recreation Center, 4600 W. Bardin Rd. Bring your sleeping bag, cot or blow-up mattress and anything else you need to be comfy for the night. The sleepover will include dinner, competitions, crafts and activities. For boys ages 5-14 and their mothers. Friday 5:00pm - Saturday 7:30am. $12 per person.

Eat your heart out

More than 50 food trucks will descend upon Arlington on April 26 & 27 for the first annual "Texas Food Truckin' Fest" at Rangers Ballpark, offering delicious food choices perfect for the entire family. Enjoy food prepared by Nammi Truck, Eat Jo Dawg's, My Cupcake Garden, The Big Purple Truck, Bombay Chopstix, Oink N' Moo and many more. There will be live entertainment and activities for all ages. The festival from 4:00 to 9:00pm on Friday; 11:00am to 9:00pm on Saturday. Adults pay $10.00 for a one-day pass; $12.00 for two- day pass. Kids ages 12 and under are $5; children under 32 inches are free. Parking is free as well.

Freckleface Strawberry the Musical

This colorful play, presented by Creative Arts Theatre & School, is an adaptation of the best-selling children's book written by award winning actress Julianne Moore. Follow Freckleface Strawberry as she struggles with self-acceptance due to her red hair and freckled face. This touching and funny story focuses on embracing our unique qualities and understanding the true meaning of friendship. The play is directed by Melanie Mason, a Communication Studies and broadcast lecturer at The University of Texas at Arlington. Shows are being held at Lamar High School, 1400 W. Lamar Blvd., on Friday at 7:30pm; Saturday at 2:30pm and 7:30pm; and Sunday at 2:30pm. Tickets are $15 for adults; students, military and seniors (ages 55+) pay $12.

Sink, Swim or Float

How hard can it be to build a cardboard boat that floats? Head on over to Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, 1800 E. Lamar Boulevard, for the 24^th Annual Cardboard Boat Regatta where you can cheer on more than 200 courageous crews as they battle the waves in their cardboard vessels. Soak up the fun and event day activities that include the Tornado ride, Hook's Lagoon, Mini-Boat Regatta, Build-on-Site Boats, Whale Sail, Concessions, and much more! All proceeds benefit River Legacy Foundation and the educational programs of River Legacy Living Science Center and River Legacy Parks. 9:00am-4:00pm on Saturday. Admission is $8 and up. Parking fees will apply.

No More Bullying

Register for the "No More Bullying"class presented byArlington Animal Services, Respect A Bull, Inc., and Turtle the Painting Pit Bull. This unique one-hour class on bullying is told from a Pit Bull's perspective. Meet Turtle the Painting Pit Bull, who will help spread her anti-bullying message. Also, watch Turtle paint on site, and learn how you can win one of Turtle's paintings. The class, which runs from 9:00-10:00am, is being held at the Animal Services Center, 1000 SE Green Oaks Blvd. Perfect for students in grades K-6.
