Ten Chinkapin Oak trees were planted at Randol Mill Park on July 27 by the City of Arlington's Forestry and Beautification Department and Half Price Books of Arlington at Randol Mill Park to commemorate the 40thanniversary of the book store chain. Half Price Books has been an environmentally conscious company since it was founded in 1972.

Parks and Recreation staff worked with Kevin Curry, Manager of Arlington's Half Price Books and four Half Price Book staff members to plant the trees. The new oak trees are located around the barrier free playground, which was being outfitted with a shade structure at the time of planting.

The trees will help to shade the playground and surrounding areas and add to the overall beauty of the park," said Matt Churches, City Arborist. "The city has been very fortunate to develop strong partnerships with community businesses and organizations to improve Arlington's urban forest and park system. The partnership with Half Price Book is another way to help Keep Arlington Beautiful."
