Uncrated: Reimagining the Arlington Museum of Art, 1950-2025

From Saturday, April 1, 2023 until Sunday, May 14, 2023, the Arlington Museum of Art will present Uncrated: Reimagining the Arlington Museum of Art, 1950-2025, a retrospective of the museum’s evolution and a celebration of art and community partnerships through the decades. In the early 1900s, civic leaders in Arlington, Texas began creating a vision for promoting the visual arts and arts education as important community values. ¡Viva La Fiesta!

Celebrate ¡Viva La Fiesta! at Six Flags Over Texas with delicious foods, live shows, and more between Friday, April 7 and Sunday, May 7, 2023. There’s nothing quite like celebrating ¡Viva La Fiesta! at Six Flags Over Texas – a cultural celebration with live performances of Ballet Folklórico, Mariachi band and Tejano music. On Golden Pond 

On Golden Pond is set to take the stage starting 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2023, at Theatre Arlington. This is the love story of Ethel and Norman Thayer, who are returning to their summer home on Golden Pond for the forty-eighth year. He is a retired professor, nearing eighty, with heart palpitations and a failing memory—but still as tart-tongued, observant and eager for life as ever. Ethel, ten years younger, and the perfect foil for Norman, delights in all the small things that have enriched and continue to enrich their long life together. They are visited by their divorced, middle-aged daughter and her dentist fiancé, who then go off to Europe, leaving his teenage son behind for the summer. The boy quickly becomes the “grandchild” the elderly couple have longed for, and as Norman revels in taking his ward fishing and thrusting good books at him, he also learns some lessons about modern teenage awareness—and slang—in return. In the end, as the summer wanes, so does their brief idyll, and in the final, deeply moving moments of the play, Norman and Ethel are brought even closer together by the incidence of a mild heart attack. Time, they know, is now against them, but the years have been good and, perhaps, another summer on Golden Pond still awaits. Levitt Pavilion Summer Concert Series 

Levitt Pavilion Arlington’s Summer Concert Series continues 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2023, with Mariachi Fuzion opening for Texas Latino, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2023, with Josh Langston as the opening artist for Texas Hill and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, May 7, 2023, as The Vinyl Stripes opening for Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band. These concerts are free! Open seating is available on the lawn. Please bring blankets and lawn chairs. Friday Night Skate

Friday Night Skate is back 7 p.m. every Friday at Elzie Odom Athletic Center. This event is for ages 13 and younger, and the cost is $15 per child. Pre-registration is required. You will have a blast skating with your friends, playing games, and participating in skating activities throughout the evening! Two slices of pizza and a 12oz drink can be added on for an additional $5. Click here to register.

CECC Texas 2023 Presented by McDonald's 

The CECC Texas 2023 Presented by McDonald's take place 9 a.m. Saturday, May 6 and Sunday, May 7, 2023, at Esports Stadium Arlington. CECC Texas welcomes teams from multiple conferences and divisions to compete in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, Overwatch 2, Rocket League, and VALORANT during the "May Madness" of collegiate esports. Annual Glass Art Sale and Fundraiser

The University of Texas at Arlington’s Department of Art and Art History hosts its annual glass art sale 9 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2023,  in the Studio Art Center C145/6 at 810 S. Davis Dr. in Arlington. Hundreds of one-of-a-kind functional, decorative, and artistic glass works will be available to purchase. The event will also include live glassblowing demonstrations throughout the day on Saturday. The Glass Program invites everyone to “Come to find some wonderful gifts for colleagues, friends and family, and get to know the incredible community here at UT Arlington.”

West Main Arts Festival

The 7th Annual West Main Arts Festival takes place 12 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Create Arlington. It will create a three-block street scene featuring 70 artists/maker booths, 10 food trucks, 25 local bands, street performers, NexCourt Pickleball court (pro exhibition & open play) kid's art creation station at Catalyst Creative & bounce houses. The Arlington Public Library's Imagination Station will be in full swing including giant chess and massive Connect 4 in the Gene Allen Pocket Park.  This three-block stretch of West Main (100-300) and the Cultural District includes the Arlington Museum of Art, Dance Theater Arlington, Dance Theater Arlington, Arlington Public Library, Catalyst Creative and the Create Arlington Studios and Gallery. This is a free event. #WMAF2023 features three stages and 25 local bands along with buskers playing along West Main. Bring your lawn chairs to relax and listen to the music. This is a family friendly even and pets are welcome! Live entertainment will also be presented in Theatre Arlington. This festival was created by Arlington residents to support artists, musicians, start-ups and local businesses in the Arlington area. Evening in Italy 

An Evening in Italy is 8 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Gracie Lane. Violinist Tim Angel performs the virtuosic violin solo from Winter (From the Four Seasons) by the great Italian composer of the Baroque era, Antonio Vivaldi. Vivaldi has been heard in countless movies from Kramer v. Kramer to The Talented Mr. Ripley to Dangerous Liaisons…a favorite of movie producers and always at the top of the list of classical music popularity lists. Our tenor Sergio Cepeda and soprano Youna Hartgraves will sing the passionate duets of Puccini opera (Tosca) and more. The concert will also include music of Ottorino Respighi and Italian American composer Henry Mancini. Other performers include violinist LeeAnne Chenoweth, cellist Oliver Schlaffer and pianist Heejung Kang. Complimentary wine, soft drinks, and snacks. Note: Seating is limited to 50 and unassigned. Sound Bath at Arlington Museum of Art

Discover how the sound of crystal bowls streamline the therapeutic relaxation process when you join Arlington Yoga Center and the Arlington Museum of Art for an hour of deep relaxation and restoration 11 a.m. Sunday, May 7, 2023, at the Museum. This class will begin with a few basic breathing exercises, then an all-levels asana practice followed by an extended crystal bowl sound bath meditation to complete your experience. Wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring anything with you to create a comfortable meditation nest – pillows, essential oils, eye cover, blankets, etc. Your ticket includes an hour-long class plus the cost of admission to see the Uncrated exhibition after the class is over.
