Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital

Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital has been designated a Level III Trauma Center – a classification earned by facilities that provide immediate assessment, resuscitation, surgery, intensive care and stabilization of injured patients around the clock 24/7.

“Texas Health Arlington Memorial is a critical piece of the region’s overall emergency and trauma care network. This designation opens access to services for patients who live and work in communities between Dallas and Fort Worth,” said Blake Kretz, president of Texas Health Arlington Memorial. “We are proudly growing so we can meet the needs of our patients.”

Arlington has an estimated population of nearly 394,000. It is also home to Globe Life Field, AT&T Stadium and the University of Texas at Arlington.

The hospital is at 800 W. Randol Mill Road, about a mile south of Interstate 30. It primarily serves patients from Arlington, Kennedale, Pantego, Mansfield and Grand Prairie.

“We are thrilled to be able to help provide more trauma patients lifesaving care,” said Joni Belz, B.S.N., R.N., CEN, TCRN, and program manager for trauma service.

The hospital was designated a Level III Advanced Trauma Care Facility through the Department of State Health Services. With this classification, it joins Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Alliance, Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst-Euless-Bedford and Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest Fort Worth in providing this level of trauma care.

“In the past, some patients had to be transferred to other facilities for trauma care,” Belz said. “Now, more Arlington-area patients will be closer to their homes while receiving trauma care.”

Level III facilities provide an advanced level of care, including orthopedic services, neurosurgery, vascular surgery and hand surgery. A multidisciplinary neurosurgical team provides high quality trauma care and advanced treatments of the brain and spine. Embedding this level of care in local communities is a key piece of Texas’ emergency care system.

“Achieving a Level III designation was a team endeavor,” Belz said.

Texas Health Arlington Memorial’s trauma care teams treat patients who have suffered injuries from accidents, including car collisions, falls and workplace-related wounds. Care teams have also treated injuries sustained at sporting events – such as horse riding or bull riding competitions – that occurred at nearby entertainment venues.

The hospital also offers education and community outreach on injury prevention.
