Arlington Parks and Recreation is excited to announce that eight parks across the city are receiving new playground structures in 2023.

This replacement project includes new playgrounds located at Don Misenhimer, Clarence Thompson, College Hills, Bowman Springs, Gene Schrickel, Jr., Howard Moore, Dixon W. Holman and Mary and Jimmie Hooper parks. These playgrounds were identified for replacement based on the date they were originally installed.

With the support of the Mayor and City Council, funding in the amount of $1.75 million was budgeted for this fiscal year. The playground equipment was purchased from six vendors to ensure each playground has its own unique style and features. The City Council approved the purchase at its Sept. 6, 2022 meeting.

Residents are encouraged to use the Park Finder to identify alternate playground locations during the renovations. For more info, please contact Parks Planning Manager Mark Heinicke at (817) 459-6937.
