The Arlington Police Department was notified that a driver who was critically injured in a wreck that occurred earlier this month has died from his injuries.

Back on February 4, 2023, officers responded to a three-vehicle wreck in the 4000 block of S. Center Street. Investigators determined the driver of a 2021 Ford Mustang, 18-year-old Triston John, lost control of the vehicle as he was traveling northbound, crossed over the center median, and into oncoming traffic, colliding with two other vehicles.

A passenger in the Mustang, 20-year-old Silvano Bent, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Mr. John was initially transported to a local hospital, then transferred to a hospital in Collin County where medical staff pronounced him deceased Saturday, February 18.

The drivers of the other vehicles were not seriously hurt.

On Saturday, February 4, 2023, at approximately 6:27 p.m., the Arlington Police Department responded to the 4000 block of S. Center Street to investigate a three-vehicle wreck.

By the time officers arrived on scene, bystanders had pulled two young men out of a 2021 Ford Mustang that was involved in the crash and had caught fire. They were both transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

The passenger of the Mustang, a 20-year-old male, was later pronounced deceased from his injuries by medical staff. The driver of the Mustang, an 18-year-old male, remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Investigators determined the two men were initially traveling northbound along S. Center Street. They believe the driver of the Mustang lost control of the vehicle as he was attempting to switch lanes, crossed over the center median, and went into the southbound lanes, colliding with a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado and a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer.

The drivers of the Silverado and Lancer were not seriously injured.

Investigators have not ruled out speed as a factor in the crash.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s will identify the deceased once next of kin have been notified.
