Arlington’s City Hall and City Tower, Municipal Court, Park Administration Building, libraries, all Arlington Parks and Recreation centers/facilities, animal shelter and Water Utilities South Service Center will be closed to the public again Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023, due to the winter weather. This action is being taken to ensure safety for residents and city employees with potential traffic hazards because of winter weather.

Due to the current weather conditions, Republic Services has suspended residential trash and recycling collection for Wednesday and the Arlington Landfill will be closed Wednesday as well. Trash service for neighborhoods that were missed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will resume on their next regularly scheduled collection dates, Thursday, Feb. 2, Friday, Feb. 3 and Saturday, Feb. 4. Residential recycling collection missed this week will be collected on the next regularly scheduled collection date next week.

Via, Arlington’s on-demand rideshare public transportation service and Handitran are closed Wednesday, Feb. 1.

All essential city services will be operational Wednesday, including public safety, 9-1-1 emergency call center, street and water crews. This also includes the Action Center, the City’s information hotline that can be reached by dialing 817-459-6777.

Arlington Animal Services will be closed Feb. 1. However, staff will be onsite to care for animals in the shelter. The Housing Authority of the City of Arlington (AHA) office will also be closed.

Additionally, the City of Arlington has activated its Emergency Cold Weather Shelter Plan to serve the homeless population through Friday, Feb. 3. The Arlington Life Shelter at 325 W. Division St. starts accepting unsheltered residents at 2 p.m. The Salvation Army, located at 712 W. Abram St. is also accepting unsheltered residents beginning at 7 p.m. ID is required for admittance and food will be served. Interested parties can sign up for text alerts about the City’s cold weather shelters by texting ARLCOLD to 817-241-3544.
