Want to find out more about street construction in the City of Arlington?

Arlington’s Street Tracker webpage, available since 2015, provides transparency and up-to-date information on both current and proposed street maintenance and construction projects throughout the 99-square-mile city. Residents can visit Arlington's Street Tracker webpage at www.arlingtontx.gov/streettracker.

The webpage features a project list with upcoming bid opportunities, information on street closures, an explainer how the City decides which streets to repair and which to rebuild, and a news feed featuring the latest information on street and sidewalk construction and maintenance.

The site also contains two interactive maps. The Street Tracker map allows users to type in an address or click on a highlighted section of street and learn more about the type of construction activity underway, such as water main installation, sanitary sewer renewal or sidewalk replacement. The Street Condition Map allows users to type in an address or click on a section of roadway to see its currently Overall Condition index and whether it is rated red, yellow or green based on its score.

The webpage includes a link where users can reach out to the City to report concerns such as potholes, burnt out streetlights, obstructed views or standing water on the street. Residents can also download the Ask Arlington app or call the Action Center at 817-459-6777 to report concerns.

Here are some key facts for residents to know about both past/current street construction and what they can expect to see in the future:

  • Arlington has invested approximately $94 million combined in street and sidewalk construction and maintenance in the past two fiscal years.
  • The City plans to invest an additional $65 million in street and sidewalk construction and maintenance this fiscal year, which runs through Sept. 30, 2023.
  • Of this, $10.8 million is dedicated to the Mill and Overlay Program, which will extend the lifespan of 27 street segments. Click here to see the list of streets.
  • Another $6.6 million is earmarked for the Street Reclamation and Miscellaneous Concrete Program, which is set to improve the ride quality and strength for portions of eight streets throughout Arlington over the next year. Click here to see the list of streets.
  • Arlington recently approved an engineering services contract for future plans to rebuild and widen an aging section of Randol Mill Road between Cooper Street and Collins Street. This planned project, which is expected to be included in the 2023 Bond Program, up to $17 million in funding allocated from the 2021 Tarrant County Transportation Bond Program. • Also this year, the City is wrapping up a four-year initiative to convert all streetlights across Arlington to LED fixtures that are more energy efficient, environmentally friendly and last longer. There are approximately 1,950 streetlights left to convert to LED. When this project is completed, Arlington will have converted approximately 23,000 streetlights citywide to LED.
