Dog of the Week – Meet Callie
This four-and-a-half-year-old female German Shepherd mix is brown and black in color and weighs 70 pounds. This sweetheart of a dog is gentle and calm in most interactions with human friends. She loves being out of the confines of her kennel playing "fetch" with any soul having the patience to do some of the "fetching". She hasn't quite perfected the point of playing with toys. Treats are a highlight for her, and she responds to the command of "sit" to be rewarded. Additionally, she likes sitting to be on the receiving end of a good scratch under the chin or an overall body rub. Callie would probably do well with an active family encouraging her to be active in planned exercise opportunities and improving her "fetch" results. Second Dog of the Week – Meet Lunar
This one-and-a-half-year-old female Labrador Retriever mix is white and brown in color and weighs 50 pounds. Lunar is a very active dog who calms down after some free roaming in the play yard. She is such a "ham" for the camera and loves trying anything to hang out with "hoomans". Her favorite time is socialization time with the volunteers giving her a chance to burn up her pent-up energy. Making claim to everything she sees seems to be her "golden ticket" --claiming toys--"mine” treats--"mine", affection, leashes, friends--ALL "mine"!
