The boys are back in town, head into dream world, or bring your canine to the ballpark. Here are a few ways you can enjoy your weekend in The American Dream City.

Disney Art from Private Collections 

In partnership with long-time Walt Disney Animation Studios artist and Disney Legend Andreas Deja, the Arlington Museum of Art announced its 2022 Summer exhibition: Disney Art from Private Collections. The exhibit runs through Sunday, Sept. 4, 2022. Tickets can be purchased on the Arlington Museum of Art’s website. The extensive private collection of Deja includes decades of work by three of Disney’s most talented and prolific animators: Frank Thomas, Ollie Johnston, and Deja himself, who oversaw the creative development of characters including the villainous Gaston in Beauty and the Beast, Jafar in Aladdin, and Scar in The Lion King. Disney Art from Private Collections features almost 250 original animation sketches and cels, character studies, storyboards, and concept drawings from Disney animated films including Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Fantasia, Beauty and the Beast, The Princess and the Frog, The Lion King, Alice in Wonderland, One Hundred and One Dalmatians, Bambi, The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, Aladdin, and more.

Rangers battle Tigers with Bark at the Park

Your hometown Rangers look to defend homefield against the Detroit Tigers. The three-game set at Globe Life Field is slated to have first pitch at 7:05 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, 2022, 6:05 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022 and 1:35 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, 2022. You can purchase get tickets on the Rangers’ website. For Saturday’s game, enjoy America’s pastime by taking your favorite canine companion out to the ballgame for Bark at the Park! Come celebrate and watch hundreds of the most adorable pups circle the bases in the game opening parade and energize the crowd with their playful barks and boundless tail-wagging that create un-fur-gettable memories for all. All good and leashed dogs (who have signed a vaccine waiver) are invited to sit with their humans in a dedicated, pet-friendly section. Tickets ranging from $45-$55 are available for purchase and include one dog ticket and one human ticket. 

Biloxi Blues at Theatre Arlington

Theatre Arlington is thrilled to present Biloxi Blues to the stage. The play portrays the conflict between soldiers and privates in the military stationed in Biloxi, Mississippi. The play is for mature audiences 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and 2:00 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are available on the Theatre Arlington website. The play runs through Saturday, Sept. 4, 2022.

Coca-Cola Dreamworld at Six Flags Over Texas

Celebrate the summer weekends at Six Flags Over Texas, presenting Coca-Cola Dreamworld! Enjoy screamin’ rides, music and of course ice-cold Coca-Cola. Dreamworld will offer a digital platform with themed digital games and sharable filters! All you need to do is scan the QR code on your phone! Also, this event features a 360-photo booth, so make sure to get your selfie on and tag Six Flags Over Texas on social media. East Esports Clinic 

Meet other gaming enthusiasts in person and play games together at the Arlington Parks and Recreation’s East Esports Clinic 9:00 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022 at the East Library and Recreation Center. Swap tips and learn new skills each week to improve your game! Click here to register

Beacon Skateboarding Clinic 

Come learn the basic skills and techniques of skateboarding along with a few cool tricks at the Arlington Parks and Recreation’s Beacon Skateboarding Clinic 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022 at The Beacon Recreation Center. All skill levels welcome. Click here to register

Mobile Pet Adoption Event

Join Arlington Animal Services for a tail-wagging, family-friendly, pet-saving community event 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022 at the Animal Services Center, located at 1000 SE Green Oaks Blvd in Arlington. Adorable adoptable pets looking for new homes will be available at the mobile adoption unit for immediate adoption! Visit with adoptable cats available inside PetSmart! Scheduled events are subject to cancellation without notice due to unfavorable weather conditions (heat, cold, storms, etc.) for the safety and protection of adoptable pets, volunteers, and staff.

Crafting Corner with Arlington Public Library

Get crafty and join the Arlington Public Library in their open crafting space at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library’s Tinker Room. Crafting Corner takes place 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022. Make new friends as you work on crochet, macramé, knitting, cross stitch, hand embroidery, or anything else you can think of making. Come learn new skills or bring any work in progress project you have! This in-person class is appropriate for ages 9 to adult. Anyone under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Serger Class: Infinity Scarf

Join the Arlington Public Library 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022 at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library’s Tinker Room, where you can make a beautiful infinity scarf on the serger. The Serger is a machine that cuts and binds fabric and can be used for a variety of craft projects. Materials will be provided. This class is limited to the first 5 in attendance and is appropriate for ages 13 to adult. Click here for more information.

Cowboys 2022 Preseason Finale at AT&T Stadium

Your hometown Cowboys return to AT&T Stadium to wrap up the preseason slate against the Seattle Seahawks. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022. Ticket info can be found on the Cowboys’ website

Gentle Yoga 

Join Arlington Yoga Center and the Arlington Museum of Art for an immersive experience combining the tranquility of an art museum with the contemplative practice of yoga. Your ticket includes an hour-long yoga class plus the cost of admission to see our Summer 2022 exhibition after the class is over. Class is from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm. Doors open at 10:45 am. Free parking is available along W. Main St. as well as 101 Center parking garage adjacent to the Downtown Library. Bring your own mat and any props you like to use. Tickets are $20.
