Editor's Note: As of December 2023, the City and Bowery Farms have mutually terminated their Chapter 380 agreement due to Bowery Farms experiencing unforeseen delays in completing the project. Bowery Farms continues to work on the Arlington farm and intends to complete the project in the near future.

Bowery Farming, the largest vertical farming company in the U.S., serving major e-commerce platforms and more than 800 grocery stores, is building its newest smart indoor farm in Arlington.

Bowery’s Arlington commercial farm will serve a population of 16 million people within a 200-mile radius. The farm is expected to open the first quarter of 2023 inside a new industrial space on South Cooper Street, north of West Harris Road, in south Arlington.

Joining its network of vertical farms in New Jersey, Maryland and Pennsylvania, Bowery plans to power its new Arlington farm with 100% renewable energy. By opening a smart indoor farm in the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington area, a rapidly growing technology and manufacturing hub, Bowery will create more than 100 year-round green jobs.

You can read more about Bowery Farming in the latest Invest in Our Economy newsletter. This quarter’s publication also features stories on the new organic grocery store, Ann’s Natural Grocery and Nutrition, that opened in Downtown Arlington and more business news happening across the city.
