The City of Arlington was honored to receive seven overall awards, including five first-place awards, at the annual Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers (TAMIO) conference in Houston on June 9, 2022.

This year follows up a strong campaign in 2021, where the Office of Communication took home 11 awards at the TAMIO conference in Round Rock.

The awards recognize outstanding communication by Texas communities in a variety of categories including website, social media, video production and publications. Judging is conducted by non-TAMIO members with expertise in communications and municipal government.

“It’s an honor to be recognized statewide for our work communicating with our residents through innovative video programming, strategic planning and our creativity celebrating local events,” said Jay Warren, the city's director of Communication and Legislative Affairs and TAMIO President. “We have so many talented cities here in Texas. It’s rewarding to see validation for our work across a number of different categories related to communications and marketing.”

The City's FY2022 Lego Brick Budget Video, which has received nearly 1.1 million views on Arlington’s YouTube channel, took home three TAMI Awards: Innovation Award, Best Media Relations and PSA Educational Video. The Office of Communication’s FY2022 Budget in Action Campaign, showcasing the value of city services using Lego brick animation, social media posts, web articles, and Facebook Live videos, received a TAMI Award. On the Clock, a show that gives residents an inside look at the hard work city employees do every day, also took home a first-place award.
