Arlington Martin Luther King Jr., Celebration Committee Inc. partners with the Juneteenth Jubilee

The Arlington Martin Luther King Jr., Celebration Committee Inc. is proud to partner with the Arlington Juneteenth Jubilee Celebration Committee to bring the community together to celebrate Juneteenth on June 17-19, 2022.

The celebration will highlight the richness of Black culture through art, music, poetry and dance while sharing the history behind the emancipation of people of color. The order of events is as follows:

Friday, June 17

  • MLK Advancing the Dream Reception
  • Echoes from the Hill Premiere

Saturday, June 18

  • MLK Day of Service
  • MLK Day of Service Festival
  • The Art Festival on Main Street
  • Echoes from the Hill Film Screenings
  • The Juneteenth Celebration at the Levitt Pavilion

Sunday, June 19

  • The MLK Hubert Moss Ecumenical Service
  • The Juneteenth Celebration at the Levitt Pavilion

The Arlington Juneteenth Jubilee kicks off Friday, June 17, with a ticketed screening of “A Place of Our Own,” the first episode of the new Echoes from the Hill documentary that explores what life was like for Black residents in a small Arlington community known as The Hill.

About The Juneteenth Jubilee

The Arlington Juneteenth Jubilee is organized by a committee comprising members from the following organizations and businesses: the Arlington Museum of Art, Viridian DFW, the Levitt Pavilion Arlington for the Performing Arts, the City of Arlington, Downtown Arlington, Arlington Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma and the Arlington Public Library and of course the Arlington Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee, Inc.

About The Arlington Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee Inc.

Organized in 1989 and established as a nonprofit in 1990, the MLK Celebration Committee has been an active contributor to the community for over thirty years. The MLK Celebration Committee has given out scholarships to graduating students, donated time and resources to the community while continuing to push forward the message and dream of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The committee is supported by the following organizations: Arlington ISD, Arlington Ministerial Association, Tarrant County College Southeast Campus, The City of Arlington, the University of Texas at Arlington.
