City of Arlington Launches Online Community Donation Campaign to Support Ukrainian Refugees Temporarily Housed in Sister City, Bad Königshofen, Germany

More than 70 years ago, the Arlington community banded together to provide food, clothing and much-needed supplies to assist hundreds of refugees who had fled to Bad Königshofen, small northern Bavarian town on the border of West and East Germany.
That spirit of kindness and generosity from our community is sought once again. Bad Königshofen, which is Arlington’s longtime Sister City and home to fewer than 7,000 residents, has opened its doors to hundreds of people who have fled violence in their home country of Ukraine. Arlington Mayor Jim Ross has announced the kickoff of a Sister Cities United community donation campaign to help support Ukrainian refugees during their stay in Bad Königshofen.
From now through April 15, 2022, the public can make an online contribution through the City of Arlington’s website and 100% of the proceeds will go toward our Sister City’s efforts to provide a safe haven for Ukrainian refugees. “As your Mayor, I know how compassionate this city is and it’s been amazing to see so much unity and support around the people of Ukraine,” Ross said. “If you can, please consider making a donation to the Sister Cities United Aid for Ukraine campaign so we can help provide the basic needs to those displaced from their homeland.”
The motto for the Sister Cities partnership is Friendship – Solid as a Rock. The Sister Cities of Arlington organization has pledged $1,000 for the effort, with individual members also making contributions.
