The HELP Center for LGBT Health and Wellness opened an expanded clinic at 602 E. South St. in Arlington aimed to offer community events and additional access to free medical services.

The HELP Center for LGBT Health and Wellness opened a clinic in Arlington in 2018. The clinic was founded in North Texas in 1994.

“Over the last four years, we have served more than 2,000 patients at our Arlington location,” said DeeJay Johannessen, the CEO of the HELP Center for LGBT Health and Wellness. “We have given out more than $20 million in life-saving medications for free.”

Johannessen said the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation provided a $400,000 grant for the building to be remodeled for the clinic.

“The HELP Center represents the strength of Arlington and what Arlington is all about,” said Arlington Mayor Jim Ross. “It’s about helping each other, regardless of your ethnicity, sexual preferences, or religious preferences. It’s about coming together and helping each other.”
