The Arlington Police Department responded to a fatality crash in the 3500 block of East I.H. 30 on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at 10:58 p.m. involving two vehicles.

The first vehicle, a passenger sedan, was traveling westbound on I.H. 30 when the car became disabled due to engine trouble. The vehicle remained in the inside lane of traffic due to construction in the area with no shoulder available.

The driver activated the vehicle’s emergency hazard lights and remained seated in the vehicle. Another motorist, also in a passenger sedan, was traveling westbound and struck the rear of the disabled vehicle.

The driver of the car that struck the disabled motorist was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the disabled vehicle was not injured.

Investigators have not ruled out speed and intoxication as possible causative factors for this crash.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the deceased once next of kin have been notified.
