Value of Water Mini Poster Contest Winner from 2022

Arlington Water Utilities is excited to announce the return of the 2023 Value of Water Mini Poster Contest. This contest is open to Arlington students, pre-kindergarten through fourth grade, to not only showcase their artistic talent but also highlight the vital role of water in their lives.

The Value of Water Mini Poster Contest begins on Tuesday, Sept. 5, with all entries due by the end of the day on Friday, Oct. 15. This contest is made possible through the collaboration of Arlington Water Utilities, Arlington Public Library, River Legacy Nature Center, and Tarrant Regional Water District.

Each winner will receive a STEAM kit, a family four-pack of pool passes from the Parks Department, and water-themed books. Pre-kindergarten through second-grade winners will also receive four passes to Forever Forest, a traveling exhibit at River Legacy Nature Center. Third-graders and fourth-graders will be able to schedule a multi-age program led by a naturalist for you and up to 24 friends at River Legacy Nature Center.

Ready to get involved?

Kindergarten through fourth-grade students - begin by creating your artwork on an 8 ½ by 11-inch piece of plain white paper to show us why water is important to you – whether it’s splashing in the pool or drinking a cool glass of lemonade. You can show us how animals use water, too!

Pre-kindergarten students - please complete one of the coloring sheets from SaveArlingtonWater.com to enter the contest.

Once your masterpiece is complete, provide the following details on the back of your entry, on a separate piece of paper or email:

• Your First Name
• Grade
• School you attend
• Parent or guardian’s phone number
• A couple of sentences to answer these questions: 1. What did you draw? 2. Why is water important in your life?

When everything is ready, simply submit your entry by scanning a copy or taking a photo of your artwork and sending it to [email protected].

Six winners, representing each grade level, will be announced on the Arlington Water Facebook page on Thursday, Oct. 19, coinciding with the Value of Water campaign’s “Imagine A Day Without Water” observance. These young artists and their teachers will receive a special invitation to be recognized at an Arlington City Council meeting on Nov. 7, 2023. Additionally, their winning posters will proudly be displayed at Arlington City Hall or the Arlington Water Utilities South Service Center.

Ready for a splash of inspiration? Mark your calendar for Saturday, Sept. 9, and dive into the Water Awareness Through Education and Recreation (WATER) Festival, hosted by the River Legacy Nature Center.
