FY22 Budget

The Arlington City Council’s three at-large representatives —Ruby Faye Woolridge, Dr. Victoria Farrar-Myers and Dr. Barbara Odom-Wesley — hosted a telephone town hall meeting Aug. 25, 2021, to answer residents’ questions about the City of Arlington’s $552 million proposed Fiscal Year 2022 operating budget.

The proposed budget for the next fiscal year includes a recommendation for a property tax rate reduction for the sixth year in a row, and slight increases for residents’ water rates, the garbage collection rate and storm water fee.
More than 4,100 people listened in during the telephone town hall, which was one of three town hall meetings that were held ahead of the City Council’s vote on the budget next month. The fiscal year begins Oct. 1.

The City Council will also schedule a public hearing during its 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7 meeting on the proposed budget and whether to reduce Arlington's property tax rate from $0.6225 cents per $100 of assessed value to $0.6198 cents per $100 of assessed value.

The proposed budget and business plan is built around supporting the City Council's five priorities: Champion Great Neighborhoods, Support Youth and Families, Invest in Our Economy, Enhance Regional Mobility and Put Technology to Work.

The meeting was simulcast in both Spanish and Vietnamese. Follow the links below to listen to the full conversation.
