From a night out with friends, a comic festival or a family hike, here are a few ways to enjoy your weekend in The American Dream City.

Friends Night Out! at George W. Hawkes Downtown Library

Get into some comfy clothes and get ready for some summertime fun with a friend at the Downtown Library after hours. Friends Night Out is Friday, August 27 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library. There will be music, art projects, prize drawings and more. The first 25 people there will receive a swag bag full of goodies. This event is for adults only.

Arlington Comic Fest at the Bob Duncan Center

The Arlington Comic Fest is taking place Saturday, August 28 at the Bob Duncan Center from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Fest brings fans of comics, sci-fi, anime and fantasy all together for one fun event. Seventy-five vendors will be on hand selling, buying and trading items from art, books, comics, cards, collectibles, games, toys and more. Attendees can meet comic, sci-fi, anime and fantasy artists, authors and guests. Event organizers say cosplay is a huge part of comic cons like this one, and they encourage attendees to dress the part.

Family Sunset Hike

Enjoy a guided sunset hike with the family at River Legacy Park on Saturday, August 28. Starting at 7 p.m., a naturalist will lead a tour as you explore native plants and wildlife you may not see during the day. Tickets are $10 per person. Children must have an adult present and strollers are not allowed on the hike.

Entrance into River Legacy Center.
