Aqua League

Throughout April and May, more than 2,900 elementary students from 13 Arlington ISD and charter schools received a virtual visit from “The Aqua League” for a water conservation-themed play performed by the Minneapolis-based National Theatre for Children.

Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD), which provides water for treatment to Arlington Water Utilities, partnered with the National Theatre for Children to sponsor the online show, both live and in on-demand formats. Their goal was to provide a fun, engaging program for students to learn how to save and protect water. Through a series of skits and demonstrations, the students learned about the value of water, where it’s sourced, ways they can save water at home, and how to protect water quality. In addition to the skits, the live host engaged the students with questions and quizzes. The Aqua League program also included a student activity book, online games, and a classroom poster, all available in both English and Spanish.

“We had a great time with the presentation!” said a 4th grade teacher at Hill Elementary School. “I loved the option for them to submit questions and liked the interactive discussion questions/quizzes throughout.” A Kindergarten teacher at Arlington Classics Academy also shared that the program was “very informative and my students enjoyed learning from the presentation.”

Part of Arlington Water Utilities’ mission is to share water resource education in the community. In addition to the National Theatre for Children’s program, TRWD and Arlington Water Utilities recently partnered for events such as DIY Sprinkler Repair classes, Arlington Parks and Recreations’ Aging Well Expo, rainwater harvesting classes and a Spring Break plant giveaway for kids.
