ORIGINAL RELEASE:
The Arlington Police Department responded to a shooting call in the 600 block of Cousins Lane at 7:44 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2021.

The victim, a 21-year old man, was transported to a local hospital and pronounced deceased.

While the initial investigation is still in its early stages, investigators believe that multiple people ended up at a local convenience store nearby in the 1700 block of West Sanford Street. As all parties left the store in separate vehicles, an unknown suspect or suspects began to follow the victim and another man riding in the same car from the location. The suspect or suspects began shooting at the victim’s car and struck one of the occupants. The friend in the victim’s car noticed the driver was shot and was able to move him to a passenger seat and drive to a residence on Cousins Lane and summon help.

Investigators are not certain of a motive at this time. Video surveillance is being sought from the convenience store.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the deceased once next of kin have been notified.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Homicide Detective Richard Coleman at 817.459.5373. Tipsters can also remain anonymous by contacting Tarrant County Crime Stoppers at 817.469.TIPS.
