City of Arlington

With power and water service restored after this week’s extreme winter storm, City of Arlington facilities will reopen on Friday, Feb. 19, 2021. All Arlington Parks and Recreation and Arlington Public Library facilities will remain closed. Please note that city buildings will have a delayed 10 a.m. opening.

Meanwhile, Arlington Water Utilities also continues efforts to restore water pressure and service to homes and businesses. Please click here to read about the status of the City’s water system and the request for customers to boil tap water prior to consumption as a precaution until pressure is restored to the water system.

Due to the forecasted freezing conditions this evening, which may result in continued icy road conditions tomorrow, Republic Services will not be operating Friday, Feb. 19 for trash and recycling pickup. However, the Arlington Landfill will be open. Garbage and recycling service will begin on its regular schedule on Saturday, Feb. 20 with brush and bulk pick up beginning on Thursday, Feb. 25.

Handitran will remain closed on Friday, Feb. 19. Via, the City’s on-demand public transportation services, will remain limited. Please check the Via app for availability.

Additionally, the Arlington Fire Department’s COVID-19 emergency mass vaccination site at Esports Stadium Arlington + Expo Center will remain closed until Sunday, Feb. 21. Notifications with appointment confirmation will be sent out to eligible individuals when operations can safely continue. Please click here for FAQs about receiving a COVID-19 vaccine, especially if you are due for a second-dose shot this week.
