City of Arlington Announces Daytime and Overnight Emergency Warming Stations to Assist Residents During Extreme Winter Weather

Editor's Note: The Salvation Army at 712 W. Abram St. remains at capacity as of 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, 2021. The Water Utilities South Service Center will not reopen Thursday evening as a temporary warming station due to lack of demand. 

The City of Arlington has announced both a daytime and an overnight emergency warming station to assist residents without power during these extreme winter weather conditions.

The City’s Dottie Lynn Recreation Center at 3200 Norwood Lane will be open from noon to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 16, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17 and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18. This location is not open for overnight shelter.

Additionally, the Arlington Water Utilities South Service Center at 1100 S.W. Green Oaks Blvd. will be open as an overnight emergency warming station from 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16 to 8 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17 and  from 8 p.m. Feb. 17 to 8 a.m. Feb. 18. Parking will be on the north side of the building, where the entrance is also located.

What to Know: Emergency Warming Stations

• Meals and drinks are not provided at either locations, so those who come to either warming station will need to bring the items they need.

• Transportation will not be provided to these warming stations, so we ask that residents please drive with caution.

• To protect public health during the coronavirus pandemic, face masks and social distancing will be required at both locations.

• Please do not bring cots, sleeping bags or other bulky items, as we need to make as much space available for residents in need.

• Pets are not allowed at either facility. We appreciate your understanding.

La ciudad de Arlington ha anunciado una estación de calentamiento de emergencia para durante el día y durante la noche para ayudar a los residentes sin energía eléctrica durante estas condiciones climáticas extremas de invierno.

Qué saber: Estaciones de Calentamiento de Emergencia

• Las comidas y bebidas no se proporcionan en ninguno de los lugares, por lo que quienes vengan a cualquiera de las estaciones de calentamiento deberán traer los artículos que necesitan.
