Texas Health Resources is one of the newest partners providing COVID-19 vaccinations as part of Tarrant County and the state’s ongoing fight to protect public health during the coronavirus pandemic.

This week, Texas Health Resources began assisting Tarrant County Public Health by administering COVID-19 vaccines to people in the Phase 1B category at three clinics located around the county. CEO Barclay Berdan made the announcement about the public-private partnership on Monday during Gov. Greg Abbott’s visit to the Arlington Fire Department’s mass vaccination site.

Texas Health Resources, whose corporate headquarters are in Arlington, has already provided about 20,000 COVID-19 vaccines to healthcare workers in the Phase 1A category, Berdan said. Now it is pivoting to help vaccinate people who are age 65 and older or adults who have chronic health conditions that make them more likely to become seriously ill if they contract COVID-19.

Berdan said Texas Health Resources is initially expected to help Tarrant County Public Health provide vaccines to about 7,000 people on the waiting list, but that the company would continue to look for ways to help throughout the pandemic.

“North Texas is the community we serve,” Berdan said. “We’re really delighted to set the stage for this public-private partnership as we move forward.”

Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams praised the collaboration between local, county and state entities and thanked Texas Health Resources for being a great partner to help bring an end to the coronavirus pandemic in Tarrant County.

“Never before have we needed to vaccinate so many, so quickly. It’s so important that we do work together. Our challenge here locally is to make sure that when the state sends us vaccines to use, that we immediately get those shots into arms,” Williams said.
