Dog made of yarn

The Arlington Public Library’s "Art is for Everyone" series continues into 2021 with featured artist Jessica Brewer. In January, Jessica will be teaching the community how to make amigurumi, which are crocheted stuffed yarn creatures, through free virtual and in-person classes. Classes will be held at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library. Social distancing will be enforced and masks required per the Tarrant County Mask Mandate. Virtual classes will be held via Zoom.

Jessica is a local mom and artist. She earned her Bachelor’s in Communications from the University of Texas at Austin and MBA from the University of Dallas. She currently works at TCU, spending her day analyzing numbers in Excel. In her free time, she teaches yoga and art classes for children and dabbles in various media of the creative arts. Jessica was first drawn to crochet as a way to connect with her mother, but soon discovered the limitless possibilities of expression available through amigurumi. Jessica hopes to share the art of amigurumi and the benefits of crochet as a great stress reliever while giving us the ability to create cute and colorful things for the world to enjoy.

Make sure to check out Jessica’s work in the CREATE room located on the second floor of the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library.

Art classes will be free and all materials will be provided. These classes are intended for ages 12 and up. Classes are first-come, first served. Due to social distancing, we are restricted to limited capacity at this time.

Every month a different local artist will exhibit their work and offer free classes to the public. Don’t miss the array of disciplines and techniques on display. This class is part of the "Art is for Everyone" series, a project supported in part by the Texas State Library And Archives Commission.
