For all the changes 2020 has brought, many Christmas traditions remain, including the Mission Arlington Christmas store. The store gives families the opportunity to shop for free gifts, guaranteeing their children have something to open on Christmas.

"It's a beautiful sight to see," said Mission Arlington Executive Director Tillie Burgin. This year, the nonprofit expanded its Christmas store to allow for social distancing. "It has not taken away from the joy of Christmas"

Donations and volunteers make the store possible. Colby Shannon donated his time and says the experience benefits him as much as the families he's helping. "The blessing is as much for us volunteering as those that get to come into the store. Just to get to spend time with people, it's always been fun," Shannon said.

The Christmas Store is located at Mission Arlington's Downtown headquarters (400 W. South Street.) The store is open daily from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. through Dec. 22, 2020 and again from 10 a.m. until noon on Dec. 23, 2020. If you're able to donate, you can drop off new or nearly-new toys from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. at Mission Arlington. Click here for a list of suggested donations. Mission Arlington has also created an Amazon wishlist for online shoppers.
