Animal Shelter

Arlington Animal Services will reopen its main lobby for guests at 75% capacity beginning Thursday, October 1. Appointments will no longer be required for animal visits, adoptions, pet license/registration or reclamation of pets in the shelter’s care.

Patrons coming into Animal Services are required to wear masks during their visit and practice social distancing when possible. See more about Coronavirus safety guidelines.

Until further notice, stray animal drop-off and owner-release of animals will continue to be by appointment only.

Arlington Animal Services requests the help of our citizens in the following ways:

If you recover a loose animal, you may consider fostering it yourself.

If you find an animal and elect to foster it, we recommend you take a clear photo of the animal and post it to PawBoost on the City’s Lost and Found Pets website to help reunite the pet with its owner.

The City has implemented the following temporary policies and procedures that are designed to protect public health and reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our community, as recommended by local, state and federal health authorities.

Field Operations

Pet Adoptions and Reclaims

As of the 1st of October, shelter guests will no longer need to make an appointment to visit the adoption mall in search of a furry friend to adopt. The center will allow 75% guest occupancy until further notice.

For guest and staff safety, face masks and social distancing is required. See Coronavirus safety guidelines.

The center will resume processing of animal licenses/registration at the service desk without an appointment. For your convenience, online animal licensing is also available.

Animal reclamations will be also be available without an appointment as of October 1. Please view our Stray Pets website to obtain and provide the animal ID number for your visit. PawBoost is another resource to check to see if your treasured pet has been reported found.
