The Tarrant Area Food Bank held its largest distribution event ever Tuesday as the agency works to feed North Texans struggling during the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the nonprofit, more than 2,500 families received assistance at the drive-thru event at Globe Life Field.

"It's a huge need," said Tarrant Area Food Bank Director of Agency Services Vicky Martinez. "Before the pandemic, we were serving about 24,000 households a month. We're up to upwards of 60,000 families a month now."

Recipients expressed their gratitude as members of the 136th Air National Guard loaded up cars with everything from milk to peanut butter.

If you need help feeding yourself or your family, Tarrant Area Food Bank has set up a food assistance locator online. If you're able to help, click here for donation information.
