The Arlington Police Department responded to a major crash investigation in the eastbound lanes of the 600 block of E. Interstate Highway 20 on Saturday, May 23, 2020 around 12:46 a.m. Investigators determined that the police department along with the Arlington Fire Department were already working a previous crash scene involving an overturned vehicle that was in the process of being investigated prior to this new crash occurring. A fire engine was positioned in the left lane and inside shoulder of the eastbound lanes. A passenger sedan was traveling in the left lane and failed to move over and vacate the lane as the driver approached the fire truck which had emergency lights activated. The sedan struck the rear of the fire engine. The driver and sole occupant of the passenger sedan was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased around 7:30 a.m. on Saturday morning.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased once next of kin have been identified.
