What’s Open and Closed in Arlington

Tarrant County leaders continue taking steps to stop the spread of the new coronavirus COVID-19. Saturday, March 21, 2020, Tarrant County Judge Glen Whitley issued a second disaster declaration further restricting businesses and social gatherings across the county.

Under the updated declaration, here is the latest list of services and businesses that remain open.

  • Restaurant drive-thru windows, take-out and delivery services
  • Grocery stores
  • Stores selling essential household goods
  • Convenience and package stores
  • Pharmacies 
  • Day care facilities
  • Medical facilities
  • Non-profit service providers
  • Homeless and emergency shelters
  • Office buildings
  • Essential government buildings
  • Airports and transit facilities
  • Transportation systems
  • Residential buildings and hotels
  • Manufacturing and distribution facilities
  • Arlington outdoor parks and trails 
  • City of Arlington golf courses
  • City of Arlington garbage and recycling pickup 

Some businesses allowed to stay open have still made the choice to suspend operations. You are encouraged to contact businesses for individual policies.

The declaration also requires a wider variety of businesses to temporarily close. Here is a list of what is currently closed in Arlington and across Tarrant County.

  • Restaurant dining rooms
  • Churches (essential staff allowed in to facilitate online services)
  • Bars, lounges and taverns
  • Amusement parks and establishments
  • Bingo halls
  • Gyms
  • Private clubs
  • Hair and nail salons, barber shops
  • Spas and massage parlors
  • Tattoo parlors
  • Tanning salons
  • Residential meeting spaces
  • Event centers
  • Malls and retail stores not selling essential household goods
  • Arlington Public Library branches
  • Arlington Parks & Recreation indoor rec centers, Arlington Tennis Center
