City, Residents Collaborate for Successful Berkeley Square Community Cleanup

About two tons of trash, old appliances, discarded tires, tree stumps, litter and more were collected and hauled away during the most recent Neighborhood Enhancement Team cleanup event in the Berkeley Square community.

About two tons of trash, old appliances, discarded tires, tree stumps, litter and more were collected and hauled away during the most recent Neighborhood Enhancement Team cleanup event in the Berkeley Square community.

“It was such a blessing for the city to help us out, and they did a wonderful job,” said Mr. Kelly, a grateful resident on Kilkenny Drive.

The southeast Arlington neighborhood is visibly cleaner, and 25 residents at the block party social at the conclusion of the event were all smiles.

One neighborhood at a time, Code Compliance’s new Neighborhood Enhancement Team is making a difference in the community. Code Compliance partners with other city departments, Republic Services, residents and volunteers to help beautify neighborhoods.

Council member Marvin Sutton with wife, Raquel Gair Sutton, pitched in at the Berkeley Square cleanup event and helped with litter removal along Webb Ferrell Road. In addition to helping at this Neighborhood Enhancement Team event, the Sutton’s host monthly Community Service Project cleanups in southeast Arlington.
