The Public Works and Transportation Department’s Stormwater Management Spring Library Presentation Series begins Tuesday, Feb. 11.

The Public Works and Transportation Department’s Stormwater Management Spring Library Presentation Series begins Tuesday, Feb. 11. The Stormwater Education Specialist provides these presentations to increase awareness of the Stormwater Management Division and its priorities of Flood Safety and Stormwater Pollution Prevention. Topics include flood insurance, personal and property flood protection, common urban pollutants, building responsibly and much more.

Know Your Flood Risk – 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020 at the Southwest Branch Library at 3311 SW Green Oaks Blvd. This presentation will explain the types of flooding typical to the City of Arlington, natural functions of our floodplains, how to determine your property’s flood risk and your flood insurance options.

Be Flood Prepared – 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at the Lake Arlington Branch Library at 4000 W Green Oaks Blvd. Learn how to protect you, your family and your property before a flood happens. This presentation includes information on preparing an emergency supply kit, purchasing flood insurance, basic steps to protect your property and other valuables.

Build Responsibly – 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library at 100 S. Center St. The presentation provides an overview of the Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance, Stormwater Pollution Control Ordinance and the Unified Development Code. 

Stormwater Pollution and Prevention 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at the Southeast Branch Library at 900 SE Green Oaks Blvd. Polluted stormwater runoff impacts many different parts of our local environment. This presentation provides information on common urban pollutants, their effects on our local water quality and how you can help protect our local waterways.
