Beginning Friday, Jan. 17, 2020, high school and college students who receive A's on their report cards will be eligible for a free hour of gameplay at Esports Stadium Arlington. One hour of free time will be awarded for each A grade.

Students must bring a 2020 transcript or report card to the gaming center by April 17, 2020 to take advantage of the offer.

The Marines have partnered with Esports Stadium Arlington recently to connect with students and explain the opportunities that come with being a Marine.

“All gamers, regardless of platform or genre, must face adversity and overcome challenges to succeed," said 8th Marine Corps District Spokesperson Capt. Michael Maggitti. "Like Marines, there are battles won both as a team and as an individual that require intellect, resolve and the will to win.”

Marine Corps representatives were on hand during an Esports tournament last month, giving attendees the chance to try a marksmanship training device and earn prizes. Some students say they were able to see how their love of gaming could translate to a career in the Marine Corps.

“Gamers rely on tactics and hand-eye coordination, combined with reflexes,” said gamer Nathan Andrews. “In most competitive scenarios you don’t have time to deny immediate action. It’s similar to how the Marines are trained despite being more intense on the physical side.”

Esports Stadium Arlington is located at 1200 Ballpark Way. The Gaming Center is open Monday through Friday from 2 p.m. until 2 a.m. and weekends from noon until 2 a.m.
