Arlington Tomorrow Foundation Awards Nearly $1.6 Million in 2019

The Arlington Tomorrow Foundation contributed nearly $1.6 million through 29 grants last year to enhance city services and support a variety of charitable causes across The American Dream City.

The grants, both large and small, included $50,000 for the Stay the Course Program at Tarrant County College Southeast and $100,000 to refresh the hospice facility at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital. Other projects supported included those that aim to increase access to healthcare, food and affordable housing, educational activities for disadvantaged youth, and those that enhance the city's cultural and recreational opportunities. One of the grant recipients was was The Franklin Imagine Group, whose Campus Lotus project introduced high school students from the Arlington area to all facets of the music industry and help them fulfill their potential and hone their craft in the music and in the arts.

Between May 2007 and January 2020, the foundation has awarded 429 grants totaling approximately $25.3 million to local charities and City Departments who work each day to make The American Dream City vibrant and strong through educational and recreational opportunities, arts and culture, and social services.

Of those grants, $9.7 million was awarded to City departments and $15.6 million was awarded to charitable organizations in Arlington. The largest grant to date was awarded to help furnish the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library, though the Green Oaks School, River Legacy Foundation and Alliance for Children have also received $1 million grants from the foundation. 

Of the $25.3 million awarded to date:

  • $875,000 has been awarded to support animal-related causes
  • $4.7 million has been awarded to support arts and culture
  • $8.9  million has supported educational initiatives
  • $5.5 million has been awarded to support people
  • $2.8 million has been awarded toward leisure initiatives
  • $2.4 million has been awarded to support neighborhoods
