Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and there are plenty of great ways to give back to your hometown. Whether you're serving families at Mission Arlington or running to benefit Boys and Girls Clubs, we have ideas to practice the true meaning of the holiday. Plus, as the weather gets colder, leave the leaves to us. We've put together a Thanksgiving to-do list you won't mind tackling.

✅ Leave the leaves to us

The City of Arlington's leaf recycling centers open for the season Nov. 21, 2019 and will stay open through Feb. 21, 2020. To participate, bring bagged leaves to:

  • Arlington Landfill (800 Mosier Valley Road)
  • UTA Baseball parking lot (Mitchell Street, near Fielder Road)
  • Bowman Springs Park (7003 Poly Webb Road)
  • S.J. Stovall Park (2800 W. Sublett)

✅ Outrun the holiday calories

Start your Thanksgiving at the Arlington Turkey Trot. The 5K course goes through the heart of Arlington's Entertainment District. Money raised benefits Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County. Click the link above to register.

✅ Serve others this Thanksgiving

Make it your most rewarding Thanksgiving yet. Mission Arlington will feed more than 25,000 people this year — and they need your help. You can volunteer on Thanksgiving day or in the days leading up to the holiday. The group is also taking food donations. Click the link above for more information, including a list of food donations still needed. You can also call 817-277-6620 to learn more.

✅ Start Thanksgiving on the green

Arlington Golf is hosting the Turkey Day Shotgun Thanksgiving morning at Tierra Verde golf course. Registration is $60 per person and includes green fees, a half cart and breakfast tacos. Click the link above to learn more or call 817-478-8500 to register.

You can also save money no matter what Arlington Golf course you choose. Bring three canned goods to any Arlington Golf facility between now and Nov. 26, 2019, and receive a 20 percent discount on your next round of golf (greens fee and cart.)
