There's a "buzz" at the Arlington Museum of Art in Downtown with the opening of MUMENTOUS: The Upsizing of a Texas Tradition by Amy J. Schultz. It's the first exhibition associated with the museum's new Artist-in-Residency program and brings a major slice of Texas culture for Arlington residents and visitors to explore.

An all-new "Culture Buzz" episode visits the multi-media exhibition, which explores a subject matter that is ubiquitously Texan: the long-standing tradition of exchanging mums and garters at high school homecomings.

MUMENTOUS: The Upsizing of a Texas Tradition includes photography, narrative, and original video about the history of Texas high school homecoming mums, an audio installation, and an homage to mums created in large part through the generosity of the Arlington and DFW community.

"I'm hoping that as people come to see MUMENTOUS, they might see a little bit of themselves in the exhibit," Schultz said. "Maybe they wore a mum, maybe they gave a mum, maybe they've made a mum or maybe they've simply observed the tradition and they want to learn more about it."

The exhibit is now open at the museum through Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019. You can book your tickets on the Arlington Museum of Art website.
