One 4-year-old Arlington boy didn’t even have to blow out the candles on Saturday to get his birthday wish – his mom and Republic Services had been working together to arrange a surprise visit from his favorite garbage truck driver and crew.

The birthday boy's mom reached out to Republic Services last month to share the story about how much her sons enjoyed visiting with the driver, Sheron O’Bryant, and the other workers who stopped by their home each week as they collected trash along their south Arlington route.

“They are genuinely so excited to hear the garbage truck approaching and are eagerly awaiting the crew each Monday and Thursday morning ready to greet them with drinks and snacks to thank them for their service!,” the mom wrote, adding that her oldest son was requesting a garbage truck party for his 4th birthday.

Republic Services was happy to deliver. On Saturday, the big blue truck rolled up to the party, delighting the 4-year-old and his guests.

“Thank you so much for making our birthday party such a success! All of the kids and families had such a fun time and were blown away at the generosity of yourselves and your company!” the mom wrote back after the party. “You’ve made this 4 year old so very happy and he continues to be your biggest fan!”
